How to care for your jewellery

How to look after your jewellery

Keep your jewellery in better condition for longer with our useful tips!

CLEANING

To keep your jewellery looking bright and shiny, Sterling Silver pieces can be cleaned using a polishing cloth or a jewellery cleansing solution. Alternatively, you can pour a small amount of soap into lukewarm water and use a small, soft toothbrush to clean your jewellery. This is a great method to clean jewellery with intricate details.

Gold plated jewellery is very delicate, so you should not use a polishing cloth on plated jewellery as this will remove the plated layer – instead, we recommend using a soft-lint free cloth. If you would like to use a toothbrush to clean your gold plated pieces, then be very careful as this may also cause the gold plating to fade away.

Please note that 925 Sterling Silver, plated and expensive jewellery can experience normal wear and tear over time.

STORING

Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. All of our LEYLA products come in a branded velvet pouch or a box, we recommend you store your pieces in them to prevent them from tarnishing and to keep them in good condition for longer.

DELICATE ITEMS

While strong, our jewellery is still fine and delicate and will break if pulled during vigorous activities. Some of our hoop earrings may bend, so they may need to be adjusted back into shape - this is due to the nature of the material.

Materials

STERLING SILVER
925 Sterling Silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure Silver and 7.5% Copper. Sterling silver earring pieces are malleable by nature and easily tarnished.
GOLD PLATED

Our gold plated jewellery is also made from 925 Sterling Silver, the gold plating is made from three layers of electroplating to keep the shine. The speed at which the gold plating fades will depend on how well your care for your jewellery.

COPPER

Please note all our copper pieces are nickel and lead free.
